COVID-19 Policy

Tree City Preschool Policy and Procedures Regarding COVID-19:

Tree City Preschool has developed the following policies and procedures. LET’S KEEP OUR SCHOOL SAFE!

  1. Face Masks: All teachers will be required to wear a face mask. Children will NOT be required to wear a face mask, but face masks will be encouraged. If your child wears a face mask to school, please know that we will encourage him or her to wear it the best that we can. If your child is not complying with wearing the mask after teachers attempts at encouragement, the mask will be put in their individual mailbox.
  2. Drop off and Pick Up: Drop off time will be between 8:45 & 9:00 for the 4 & 5 year old class and between 9 & 9:15 for the 3 & 4 year old class. Afternoon drop off times will be between 12 & 12:30. Please, bring your child to the classroom door. The person dropping off the child MUST have a mask on. We will be taking your child’s temperature when they first arrive at school and it will be recorded on our temperature chart. If your child has a temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit you will need to take your child home. If your child develops a fever while at school or any symptoms of COVID, your child will be isolated in a separate room with a teacher until you arrive. Pick up time will be from 11-11:15 for the 4 & 5 year olds and from 11:15-11:30 for the 3 & 4 year olds. Please come to the hallway outside your child’s classroom where they will be dismissed after being signed out. On occasion your child’s class may be on the playground where they can be picked up. Signs will be posted if this is the case.
  3. When to keep your child home: These guidelines are provided by Akron Children’s Hospital.
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath/Difficulty Breathing
  • Fatigue/tiredness
  • Muscle/Body Aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

We will be very strict with these guidelines this year. Unfortunately, many children have coughs and runny noses; however we will not take a chance on allowing any child to stay with symptoms.

  1. What if a child or teacher is diagnosed with COVID-19?
You will be notified if there has been a case of COVID at our school. We will also report all cases of COVID to the local and state health departments. At that time, we will follow their guidelines as far as closing school or other actions that need to be taken.
  1. What if a child has symptoms of COVID-19?
As recommended by Akron Children’s Hospital: “If a child is sent home from school due to concerning symptoms, the best option is to test the child for COVID19. Contact your medical provider for advice. A negative test result will allow the child to return to school when appropriate based on their symptoms. Having symptoms of COVID-19 without testing OR having a positive result requires isolation for 10 days after the first day symptoms appear and improvement of symptoms, AND going at least 3 days without a fever, whichever is longer. If a child tests positive, but does not have symptoms, the 10 days begins with the day of the test.”

Tree City Preschool will require proof of the date of test and the outcome of the test.
  1. Class size and social distancing: Class size will not exceed 18 children This will allow for adequate spacing of children. The 3 and 4 year old classes and the 4 and 5 year old classes will not be combined for any activities..
  2. Disinfecting and cleaning of toys: The toys at the school will be cleaned daily. High touch areas will be cleaned periodically throughout the day. All soft toys will be put away until the pandemic is over. This is because we are not able to adequately wash these toys on a regular basis. The playground and gym equipment will also be cleaned daily.
  3. Snack Time: We will still have snack time; however all snacks must be individually packaged.
  4. Handwashing: Children and teachers will wash their hands upon arriving at school, between classrooms, before eating, after using the restroom and before leaving school. We will also use anti-bacterial hand gel; however washing hands with soap and water will be the preferred method.
  5. Tuition will still be collected on a monthly basis. We are a non-profit school and our teachers are paid from your tuition. We are unable to collect tuition weekly because of this. Tuition will not be collected if school is closed or cancelled due to COVID for longer than two weeks. There will also be a $25 COVID fee added for each student to cover additional supplies.
  6. School Cancellation will coincide with the Kent City School District. If the Kent City Schools go to all online instruction, Tree City Preschool will close. We will not provide online learning for preschoolers. There will be no tuition due until school resumes if this occurs.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO KEEP OUR SCHOOL, STUDENTS AND STAFF SAFE AND HEALTHY!
